The Impact of Chaplaincy

A Chaplain's Long-Term Impact on a Young Girl's Life

"There was a young girl in Kindy who I was supporting as she was experiencing difficulties at home. At the end of the year, I stopped seeing her regularly, however, we kept in contact by catching up on the playground at lunch. Fast forward three years, and this young girl still regularly saw me at lunchtime, and always wanted to spend a bit of time together. One day she was very quiet, and I asked her if everything was okay. She disclosed that her parents were going through a difficult separation. I was glad that we had maintained a connection, even if just for this moment. Together with her teacher and counsellor, we were able to support her, and I was able to spend time with her to help her navigate this season of difficulty."
