Embracing the Chaplain's Role

The Impact of Chaplaincy

Fostering Love, Support, and Encouragement in Schools

"Chaplaincy is a special role within a school! It allows you to just be present with the kids and spend the majority of your time with or around students, without having an agenda or requiring anything from them in return. It creates an opportunity to encourage and support students who want it, need it, or who maybe feel like they are not seen at all. Although I do it very imperfectly at times, it is my hope that as a chaplain I show the love of Jesus through my actions and words, that I am a safe, patient, and wise listener, and that I equip students with practical strategies that they can use to motivate themselves and persevere through hard or difficult circumstances.

I am very thankful to my wonderful schools, principals, teachers, and Greater West Chaplaincy for not only allowing me to do this job but for their continued support and encouragement. Thank you to all the people who have and do support chaplaincy and chaplains. I see it as a very valuable and important role."
